An Introduction to the Timbo & Seanski Files

Welcome to the Timbo & Seanski Files, firstly I would like to introduce myself, Sean Thompson(Seanski) and my good friend Tim Ng (Timbo), the founders of ParaglidingPilot.net. The Timbo & Seanski Files concept came about during the development of Paragliding Pilot as we wanted the site to have a positive effect on the paragliding community and promote the sport on a global basis. We asked ourselves, how could we garnish interest from regulatory departments, aviation authorities and the general public to promote paragliding as a professional aerial sport/pastime just like any other form of flying today? Just having a large online community would not be enough, we needed to get out there, expose the sport and grow its positive following in the wider community. It was at this moment the Timbo and Seanski Files came to fruition...
What We Hope to Achieve

There are several aspects to the Timbo & Seanski Files each of which I would like to talk a little about seperately...
Fly and Document Some of the Best Paragliding Destinations in the World
For a longtime Timbo and myself (Seanski) have been talking of doing a trip around the globe flying and documenting some of the best, unspoiled paragliding destinations the world has to offer. Finally, after much planning, and a whole lot of saving our dream is about to become reality! The Timbo and Seanski Files epic journey begins on the first day of March 2008 on Sunshine Beach in Queensland Australia. For more information on our next destinations and dates of arrival please check our Trip Journal.
Promote Paragliding on a Global Basis
Over the years the sport of paragliding has been given a bad reputation in some circles due to its early pioneering days mostly, but also thanks to a very small minority whose actions have created a stereotypical view of paragliders as an accident just waiting to happen. Paragliding is still a very young sport and yes it had some inherit dangers while the sport developed, but then so did hang gliding, in fact so did the Wright Brothers for that matter. The point being that we no longer get around in Kitty Hawks and Paragliders no longer fly the sort of equipment they did even 5 years ago. Paragliding has come full circle to wings with flight characteristics that are predictable, aircraft certification systems, stricter pilot licensing requirements and so on. The positives of paragliding today far out way any negatives in our view. We plan to take a proactive role in conveying this message during our trips to various flying locations around the globe, which we hope will in turn help our regulatory bodies and organizations to ensure the longevity and accessibility of paragliding well into the future.
Disadvantaged Children's Flyout Days
We are currently speaking with a number of charity organizations in Australia, Bali, Nepal, America, The Philippines, Europe and others in an effort to get them involved with their local paragliding clubs to help children who have been disadvantaged by poverty and illness in their localities. Although it is early days we plan on doing several fund raising events in each designated country we will be visiting for the Timbo and Seanski Files Documentary. These fundraising days will consist of free flights for the children involved, and a competition for the participating club sponsored by us. All funds raised for the day will benefit the hard working organizations in that particular location. This will also serve to involve the local non-paragliding community in each area and promote the sports many positive aspects to them.
Timbo & Seanski Files Video Diary
The Timbo & Seanski Files will be documented on a weekly basis with journal and video diary footage. This will be available via the Timbo & Seanski Community for all members of ParaglidingPilot.net to follow week by week. You can be assured of some fantastic never seen before footage as we fly the paraglider pilots ultimate wish list of locations.
Both Timbo and myself are technology mad and have been testing various in flight camera equipment from angles never seen before on a paraglider. We have a professional photography and video assistant who will be doing long range filming from ground level where she will also be able to remotely control many of the cameras fixed to our paragliders. Another first for paragliding we believe, so stay tuned folks!
